Underage Gambling Policy
Orillia Casino is strictly 19+. No exceptions. Read how we check age, how we respond when an underage player slips through, and which tools parents can use to block gambling sites for young people.
Restricting play to adults 19+
We accept players solely from jurisdictions where this is permitted under local rules, and we meet Canadian requirements covering money laundering, identity checks and age. The minimum age is 19 in every location we serve.
- Under 19? You can't register, deposit, play or claim any offer, and that includes our free daily prize game.
- Every player confirms their birth date at sign-up.
- No deposit goes through until your age is confirmed.
- We market to adults only, and never with content built to attract young people.
- Opening an account for someone who is underage, or letting a minor play through your own account, breaches our Terms of Use.
Securing shared devices
At home, laptops, tablets and phones often get shared between family members. A device left signed in to a casino account gives a young person easy access. Secure it:
- Log out of Orillia Casino after every session.
- Keep your casino password out of the saved logins on your browser or device.
- Use a PIN, password, fingerprint or face lock on every device.
- Using a shared computer or tablet? Make a separate login for each child.
- Keep cards, e-wallet logins and payment apps such as Apple Pay and Google Pay protected with their own security.
- Check your bank and card statements for transactions you do not recognise.
- Talk honestly about gambling with the children and teens around you: explain that games are built to favour the house, and why age limits exist.
Everything done on an account is the responsibility of its holder. A private login keeps both you and your family safe.
Responding when a minor is found
We take action at once when we know or suspect that someone below 19 can access an account.
- The account is suspended immediately and all play stops.
- We need the account holder to provide documents confirming their age.
- If underage use is confirmed, the account is closed.
- All winnings are void.
- As Canadian law requires, any deposits are refunded through the same payment method that was first used.
- We keep the details on file to block any new registration attempt.
- If an adult's identity or payment method was used, we contact that adult by email.
Anyone can tell us about suspected underage play. Send an email including every detail you can, and we treat the report confidentially.
Using parental controls and filtering tools
Blocking software and the settings built into devices prevent children from getting to gambling sites at all. Most of these tools cost nothing.
- Device settings: computers, phones and tablets have family or screen time controls that can block gambling content and app downloads.
- Browser settings: turn on safe browsing modes and restrict website access on child profiles.
- Home router controls: lots of routers can stop gambling sites loading on any device that uses your home network.
- Gambling blocking software: dedicated apps such as BetGuard stop gambling sites from opening on all your devices.
- App store restrictions: set age-based limits so gambling apps cannot be installed.
Internet Matters offers free, practical guides for parents on setting up these controls. The Responsible Gambling Council also provides resources for families. Both are listed on our Responsible Gaming page.
Confirming age
We confirm age ahead of the first deposit, not once a large win comes in.
- At registration, your address, date of birth and name go through an electronic check against reliable databases.
- If the electronic check fails to show you have reached 19, we will ask for valid government photo ID, a passport for instance, or a driver's licence.
- Documents must be readable, unexpired and in the account holder's name.
- Payment methods must belong to the verified account holder.
- If account activity or details point to someone else playing, we run the checks again.
Our Identity Checks page sets out the verification process in full. Our Privacy Policy and About Cookies pages explain how we safeguard the information you provide.
